For those who can’t wait until Dec. 5 for Moffat County High School basketball, there is a solution.
At 7:30 p.m. Friday, the boys and girls teams will be squaring-off in a series of scrimmages in the first Moffat County Bulldog Basketball Midnight Madness.
Boys coach Steve Maneotis said Midnight Madness is a joint venture between the boys and girls varsity teams.
“This is the first year we have done this,” Maneotis said. “A lot of colleges and universities do something similar to this, and it’s a chance for the community to see our kids play.”
At 6 p.m., there will be a spaghetti dinner for $5 per person.
The spaghetti dinner and Midnight Madness will be at the high school, 900 Finley Lane.
The money will be used to buy new equipment for the boys team, Maneotis said.
Admission is free, but donations of canned goods for Love INC are encouraged.
The first 100 students at the game will receive a T-shirt.
“We really want to get the younger kids involved,” Maneotis said.
The event is also a way for the community to check on Bulldogs basketball while having some fun.
“It’s a chance to showcase our teams,” Maneotis said. “We’ll have a quick scrimmage, a three-point shooting contest, an alumni shooting contest and a shooting contest for the younger kids.”
Those expecting to participate should wear basketball shoes.
And Midnight Madness is just a term, Maneotis said.
“At 10 p.m., we’ll probably call it a night,” he said.

Question of the week
Should the Craig Chamber of Commerce revise its State of the County attendance policy to allow people to hear speakers without paying for a ticket?
