Sexually violent predator registers in Craig
November 7, 2009
A sexually violent predator registered with local law enforcement Wednesday, according to a news release from the Craig Police Department and the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office.
Ronald Eugene Noel, 47, was convicted of attempted sexual abuse of a child in Oregon in 2000.
He was sentenced to 36 months in jail.
He is classified as a sexually violent predator by the state of Oregon. He is not on parole in Oregon or Colorado.
The release said Noel has no current address in Craig and is transient.
When a sexually violent predator is released in a community, he or she is required to register with local law enforcement and re-register every 90 days.
Law enforcement officials are required to alert the public of registered sexually violent predators through community bulletins.
Police officials encourage community members to act in the best interest of the community and not participate in harassment, vigilantism or intimidation against the offender.
The bulletin is designed to keep sex offenders registered and visible in the community.
In the release, police officials urged families in the community to discuss safety procedures with their children.
