City of Craig and Moffat County officials plan to meet at 5:30 p.m. today to discuss two draft ordinances the City Council is reviewing.

The meeting will take place at Craig City Hall, 300 W. Fourth St., and is open to the public.

First on the agenda is an ordinance regulating medical marijuana dispensaries within city limits.

A draft ordinance presented to the council last week included stipulations such as a $1,500 application fee to pay for background checks and other city work, as well as several location restrictions.

The proposed ordinance stated dispensaries could only be in C-2 commercial and light industrial zoning districts, mostly found along First Street and Victory Way, and they also cannot be within 500 feet of schools or 100 feet of residences.

Officials also plan to discuss a proposed ordinance allowing all-terrain and off-highway vehicles on city streets.

The proposal addresses all crafts with four wheels, specifically excluding snowmobiles or anything with treads.

Neither ordinance - or the issues they address - has been broached at county meetings to this point.

However, city officials often have commented that if they were to pass either, it could affect the county by either pushing medical marijuana activity into the county, or complicating ATV travel because people would have to stop at city limits.
