To the editor:
Another Memorial Day weekend has come and gone, and with it another Grand Olde West Days. It always is gratifying to the hard-working volunteer members of the Grand Olde West Days committee to reach this point and reflect on the process of bringing this event to completion.
The support of the community is such an uplifting phenomenon. Without the funding, donations, hours of commitment, attendance at events and all-around participation of the entire Craig community, this event would have folded a long time ago. Thankfully, it still is going as of this 19th year. And the folks who turned out this weekend in spite of the less than optimal weather conditions are to be thanked for showing us that the public really does enjoy Grand Olde West Days.
Thank you to all who came out, got wet, and came back for more. Thank you to those sponsors who donated funds to enable bringing in entertaining activities such as bull riding, Warrior stunts and musicians. Thank you to the local nonprofit groups who came up with inventive ways to support their causes while entertaining the public. Thank you to the vendors, local and out of town, who endured the weather Saturday and Sunday and returned Monday to participate in one of the best street festivals ever.
Thank you to our local media for their generous help in publicizing and reporting on this wonderful event.
Next year will be the 20th anniversary of Grand Olde West Days, and the volunteers who made it happen this year invite you to participate in the next round. Start thinking now how you can make a difference and make an impact on your community. The next one will be the best ever.
