Kim Hernandez: Response to Reina

To the editor:

This is in response to Francisco Reina's letter about changing of the soccer coaches. One thing I would like to say is, who is he to say anything about our high school soccer coaches since he has no one playing for the soccer team? So, how does he know we need change?

We have change every year when new freshmen come in and the seniors graduate. Is this a bad change? I say not. I have a child on the boys and girls soccer team, and I have been very pleased with the coaching staff.

Playing a sport isn't always about winning, but about the life skills that go along with it.

That is a trait that I have always instilled in my children. I just want them to go out and have fun, and the rest will fall into place.

Am I wrong to teach my children morals about life? I would like to also thank the assistant coaches, as well. I think they have just as big a part as the head coach does, and they don't always get the credit.

So thank you very much, assistant coaches. I would like to say a big thank you to all of the coaches in our community that take time away from their families and sometimes for no pay at all.

As for Mr. Reina running for City Council, you need to look at the big picture. This is a close community where the city, county and school district work hand in hand for a better community.

In close, I would like to say that, as a proud parent of two high school athletes, I support Moffat County sports 100 percent.
