To the editor:
I am writing to discuss the upcoming city of Craig election, and I wanted to thank all of the council that is seated.
I know the amount of time you spend, and I thank you for that.
We have an election coming up, and I am writing this letter in support of the incumbents and to share my views about one of the newcomers.
It has been my pleasure to serve on the board of the Boys & Girls Club of Craig with Joe Bird, and I have seen his servant-minded attitude and commitment to this community.
I, for one, have not witnessed that in a person so new to this community in the 34 years I have lived here.
I can say that Joe will be a good choice to fill the vacancy left by the term limitation of Bill Johnston and that he is a person who can ask the hard questions of staff and bring about an attitude of cooperation with other community leaders.
We, as a community, must continue to have a forward-thinking view even at this time when the national economy is off and our local one seems to be slowing.
I think that Joe would be apart of the leadership that can help us weather the storm of change as we have seen in the past several years. For the past three years, we have watched Craig grow and seen sales tax revenue rise.
I, for one, am excited to see that, as I served this community while we planned flat budgets for several years.
I believe Joe will be a leader who will not only spend the time needed and make good decisions but also will look at the total picture and the impact these decisions will have on the future.
This type of quality and commitment make Joe a person I can cast my vote for, and I plan to do that at the poll.
By the way, Joe did not ask me to write this letter - I am writing it because I care about Craig and what we as a community become.
