The Craig Puck Ewes women's hockey team swept its season-ending two-game road trip Saturday and Sunday, closing the regular season on a three-game winning streak and clinching the second seed when the postseason begins April 3 in Eagle.
Craig skated by the host Motherpuckers, 3-0, on Saturday, and closed out the trip Sunday with a 9-1 victory against the Ice Queens in Glenwood Springs.
"They kind of went flat there a couple of weeks ago," coach Jerry Strahan said about the team losing four of five games between Feb. 7 and 22. "We got back to the fundamentals and once we did that, we turned it around."
The Puck Ewes (9-4-1 league) outscored the opposition, 18-1, in its final three games.
Ewe's forward Jamie Eckroth sits atop the league in scoring with 21 total points (12 goals and nine assists), while Lani Cleverly (9 goals, 4 assists) and Shannon Young (9 goals, 4 assists) are tied for fifth with 13 points apiece. Playoff pairings are yet to be determined.
