Residents wishing to run for city office in the April 7 election must return their nomination petitions to Craig City Clerk Shirley Seely by 5 p.m. Friday.
Petitions are available until the deadline. Residents must return 25 signatures of registered Craig voters to qualify as candidates on the municipal election ballot.
Seely said she has certified seven residents so far.
Craig City Council incumbents Terry Carwile, Byron Willems and Gene Bilodeau are running for re-election.
Residents Francisco Reina, Joe Bird and Jennifer Riley also will run for office.
There are four council seats available, as term limits prevent Councilor Bill Johnston from seeking re-election.
Mayor Don Jones also plans to seek another term. He submitted a complete nomination packet last week and is the only person nominated for mayor so far.
Seely said she gave one other resident a nomination packet, but it has not been returned.
Residents must register to vote by Monday to participate in the election.
Relay For Life teams sought for Craig Relay
The American Cancer Society is looking for teams for the Relay For Life in Craig/Moffat County. Organizers are hosting a Relay kickoff from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 11 at Centennial Mall, 1111 W. Victory Way, to share with residents the importance of Relay For Life in the fight against cancer.
Teams interested in participating can sign up for $75. After the Kickoff, the fee increases to $100.
Relay For Life is an overnight event that mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer, remember loved ones and raise money for the fight against cancer.
"Relay For Life is an awareness raiser about the progress against cancer as much as it is a fundraiser," said Jeremiah Herman, Community Relationship Manager for the American Cancer Society. "Individuals who are willing to give their time and energy to this exciting event, as a volunteer or participant, have made a commitment to fight back against this disease and let the community know that you can beat cancer."
Teams of eight to 15 members gather with tents and sleeping bags to participate in the largest fundraising walk in the nation. Relay For Life brings together friends, families, businesses, hospitals, schools, churches - people from all walks of life.
Teams seek sponsorship prior to the Relay, all with the goal of eliminating cancer.
If you would serve as a team captain, join as a participant, or sign up for the survivor lap, visit Relay officials at the kickoff. For more information, visit www.craigrelayforlife.com, or contact djkenny40@yahoo.com.

Question of the week
Should the Craig Chamber of Commerce revise its State of the County attendance policy to allow people to hear speakers without paying for a ticket?
