Sports briefs: Dwarf Cars race set for today

In its first action since June 13, The Hayden Speedway welcomes Dwarf Cars today to the track. The gates open at 4:30 p.m., and the show starts at 6:30 p.m.

The Dwarf Cars show will be the third race this season at the speedway, 37900 County Road 53.

American Legion baseball on the road

The Moffat County American Legion Post No. 62 baseball team will play a doubleheader at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. today in Rifle.

The team will face off against Grand Junction Central at 3 and 5 p.m. Monday, then Palisade at 10 a.m. and noon Tuesday.

The team, which owns a 6-6 record overall (5-3 in conference), last played in Rifle in a tournament earlier this month. The only game Moffat County won was against Rifle.

Halen Raymond will start for the Bulldogs in the first game, with Bubba Ivers tossing the nightcap.

Sea Sharks swimming in Grand Junction

The Craig Sea Sharks swimming team will continue its tournament in Grand Junction today.

The Sea Sharks have been in Grand Junction since Thursday, and the team will finish its meet Sunday.

The event, the 55th Annual Grand Junction Dolphin Invitational Swim Meet, is at the Lincoln Pool in Grand Junction.

The events today include the boys and girls 50-yard backstroke, 200-yard fly, 100-yard free, 100-yard breaststroke and 400 yard freestyle.
