With three employees going on maternity leave, several others with less than a year's experience and an increasing caseload, Moffat County Social Services has petitioned county officials for an extra, but temporary, full-time employee.
After a 10-minute discussion with Human Resources Director Lynette Running, and then another 10-minute discussion with Social Services Director Marie Peer, the Moffat County Commission approved the request, 3-0, at its Tuesday meeting.
The position will be a self-sufficiency case manager, and is slated to last nine months, but the commissioners added a scheduled review at seven months to see if the position still is needed.
The state will fund 80 percent of the salary, with Social Services picking up the remainder with incentive funds now kept in reserve. Those dollars were given to Social Services for meeting certain benchmarks.
The commission also voted, 3-0, to approve a $27,629 bid from Stripe A Lot for roadway striping this year.
It was the lowest of three bids submitted.
