A Friday night outage left about 7,000 homes in and around Craig without power for about an hour and a half, a Yampa Valley Electric Association official said.

Thomas Lee Johnson’s defense attorney told a Larimer County jury Thursday morning that her client indeed killed Lori Bases in her Steamboat Springs home in May 2000 but that he did not plan the attack. Johnson was convicted in Bases’ stabbing death in 2001, but the Colorado Court of Appeals overturned the conviction in 2006.

The annual Sheriff’s Scramble golf tournament is all for the kids. Sort of. The tournament is the main fundraiser for the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office Scholarship Fund, which gives three Moffat County High School graduates $1,000 for college.
