Hard to believe, but fantasy football draft time is slowly creeping upon us folks in the fantasy world. The rankings are slowly leaking their way to the public, but mock drafts have been going since April.

Yahoo! starts its drafts sometime in the next few weeks, while ESPN starts July 1.

Depending on my draft position, I know my first-round pick would be between Matt Forte, of the Bears; Adrian Peterson, of the Vikings; LaDanian Tomlinson, of the Chargers (because everyone is sleeping on him); Maurice Jones Drew, (gotta love the receptions baby) of the Jacksonville Jaguars; or Derrick Ward (the move to Tampa Bay makes him a top-10 RB in my mind).

As far as wide receivers go, I have my eye on Randy Moss, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Anquan Boldin, Reggie Wayne (with Harrison gone, he will get a lot of targets) and Steve Smith, of the Panthers.

For quarterbacks, I like to wait a while and see if I can find a bargain after all the big names are gone.

This year, I'm looking at Matt Cassell, of the Chiefs; Jay Cutler (a new team will scare people off) if he's available; Tom Brady (he should slip in drafts because he's coming off an injury); Chad Pennington (he's solid); and Matt Hasselbeck.

That's enough football for now. After all, we're still three months away from any action.

So, let's talk fantasy baseball. If you're still paying attention to your teams after two months of the season, then good for you, you're probably doing well. If not, at least keep track of your good players' stats.

Let's take a look at some players who are worth a look and maybe even adding to your team.

• Michael Cuddyer, outfield, Minnesota Twins - His ownership numbers jumped to 55 percent during a four-week tear in which he compiled 23 runs, eight home runs, 26 RBIs and a .327 batting average. He is on pace to put up close to his 2006 numbers of 102 runs, 24 homers and 109 RBIs. He might even outdo that line if he can keep his current pace up.

I say add him now if you have space. Heck, make space for him if you have to.

• Gary Sheffield, outfield/designated hitter, New York Mets - The Sheff is ranked No. 2 in the Yahoo! game for the past week with six runs, two homers, 10 RBIs and a .444 batting average. In his past three games he has eight RBIs and has raised his batting average almost 20 points. I say give him a good look, but only add him if you can and be prepared to drop him at the sign of a slump.
