To the editor:
We five teachers from Moffat County School District would like to thank Trapper Mining Inc. and Ray DuBois.
They provided us with scholarships to "All About Mining: A Total Concept of the Mining Industry" teacher's academy at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden.
This is an intensive four-week course coordinated by the Colorado Mining Association. It is facilitated and taught by mining industry experts and professionals.
We learned about all facets of the mining industry in Colorado from start to finish, including tours of clay mining and brick making, surface and underground coal and gold mining, molybdenum mining and milling, gypsum drywall and even a solution mine that makes baking soda in Northwest Colorado.
Background information and lectures were taught at the Colorado School of Mines' campus.
We all thoroughly enjoyed this program and gained a wealth of information about an industry vital to our community and our state.
Mining and minerals make our modern way of life possible. Mining can be done responsibly, as evidenced by the award-winning reclamation efforts done by our Northwest Colorado coalmines.
We highly recommend the "All About Mining" program to our fellow teachers. Ask us, and we will be glad to visit with you about it.
Thank you, Trapper mine, for sponsoring us.
