Craig The city of Craig's Road and Bridge Department will be sealing chips on streets in the area starting Monday and running through July 16.
The city is requesting cooperation from area residents.
The first step in the project requires the streets to be sweeped and cleaned before work begins. Residents are asked not to park on streets beginning 24 hours in advance of work being done on that street.
Sprinklers should also be turned off to ensure that excess water does not run into the streets.
During the project, traffic delays should be expected.
One block of each street being worked on will be closed while oil and chips are put down.
The process takes about 30 minutes to an hour.
Children and pets should be kept off the streets while work is being completed. In addition to causing delays for workers, the oil may be tracked into homes.
To complete the project three to five days after the chip seal, sweeping will be conducted once again at night or early morning to sweep up excess chips.
City officials also advise that delays may occur by as much as half a day depending on weather, time and availability of oil.
