On Monday, the Peroulis Brothers Team had to forfeit its game against the 3B Enterprise Team because it didn't have enough players.
On Tuesday, the Peroulis Brothers Team found an extra player and the plate, beating the Boardroom Steakhouse Team, 9-6, in the second day of the Craig Parks and Recreation 8- to 10-year-old little league baseball season-ending tournament.
The team started the game with the minimum eight players on the field but still found a way to manufacture a win.
"It was probably closer than we wanted it to be," said Mike Boatright, Peroulis Brothers coach. "They scored in the first inning, but our guys ran the bases really well and came back."
After losing its first game of the season, the Peroulis Brothers team reeled off consecutive wins until the forfeit Monday.
"The kids have worked really hard all season," Boatright said. "And almost everything is new to them, but they're learning."
Today, the Peroulis Brothers Team will take on Hayden with a full squad.
"Now, we know we can still win even with only eight kids," Boatright said.
The Craig Physical Therapy team used a combination of strong pitching and lively bats to oust Hayden, 17-1.
"The whole team hit well," coach Billy Bingham said. "All the other teams are ready to play, and we told our team that at this point of the season, it's up to them."
The Craig Physical Therapy Team has not lost a game this season, and that makes them a target, Bingham said.
"Anything can happen now," he said. "They need to stay on top of it. They need to play game by game."
The Craig Physical Therapy team beat a Hayden team coming off an 11-8 victory Monday against the Boardroom Steakhouse Team.
"Hayden's a good team," Bingham said. "But, we pitched really well, and these kids can hit."
