Suicide prevention class Thursday

— Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide is sponsoring a seminar at 6 p.m. Thursday in Conference Room 2 at Yampa Valley Medical Center, 1024 Central Park Drive, in Steamboat Springs.

Erika Schmitz, a certified addiction counselor, will speak about factors that contribute to the development of dependence or substance abuse. Schmitz will also discuss treatment options, how residents can help someone they know and available resources.

The presentation is the first in a series designed to help the community understand stressors that can lead to suicide. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Information available for attendance changes

Moffat County School District administrators are available to take parents' questions regarding proposed elementary school attendance area boundaries scheduled to take effect in the 2009-10 school year.

For questions about students who live on a street that makes up an attendance boundary line, call Vicki Duncan at 826-6261. For questions about bus routes and bussing services, call Transportation Director Jim Baptist at 824-5511. For other questions, call the principal at the elementary school your child attends.
