To the editor:
The members of the Craig Salvation Army Service Extension Unit would like to thank the people of the Moffat County community who gave so generously of their time and money during our annual Christmas Kettle Campaign.
With their support, we are happy to report that we nearly doubled our goal of $6,000, with each consecutive weekend of giving breaking the record of the one before it.
Christmas Eve giving was an all-time high with nearly $1,800 dropped into our three kettles. This year’s total was the highest recorded for a kettle campaign in Craig.
We would also like to thank WalMart, City Market and Kmart for allowing us to place the kettles outside their stores. Many of the volunteer bellringers told us how much they enjoyed their time manning the kettles and visiting with friends and neighbors during this holiday season.
The money donated will be used throughout 2010 to help those who hit a rough place in their road. Ten percent of the total will go into a contingency account to cover a major emergency should one occur.
During 2009, more than 100 people in Moffat County received help from the Salvation Army, and we are now prepared to help even more in the year to come.
Our blessings go out to each of you.
