Hayden A safe that contained an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry was stolen from a Hayden business early Sunday morning, Police Chief Ray Birch said.
Between 2 and 5 a.m., Birch said the “fairly large” safe at Mountain West Insurance and Financial Services, 148 W. Jefferson Ave., was taken by at least two people.
Birch said he couldn’t disclose how much cash or what type of jewelry was stolen, but he said the safe’s contents were the property of Mountain West employees.
The Hayden office for Enterprise Rent-A-Car also shares the building. Birch said cash was stolen from several offices at Enterprise.
Mountain West and Enterprise were closed Sunday and representatives from both businesses could not be reached for comment.
Birch declined to say whether there was a security system and video surveillance at the businesses. No suspect information was available, he said.
He also wouldn’t provide any information about the safe’s size or its model. He did, however, say that it was large enough that a truck or van would have been required to transport it.
In addition to the theft, he said each office was ransacked.
Birch urged anyone with information about the theft to call the Hayden Police Department at 276-2535.
“I’m just looking for any information that anybody may have relative to any activity at 148 W. Jefferson Ave. in the early morning hours Sunday,” he said.
