— The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office plans to provide special visitation hours to inmates from 1 to 4:30 p.m. today for the holiday season.

Sheriff Tim Jantz said he wants to allow family and friends a chance to see inmates before Christmas if they want.

The jail still will have normal visitation hours from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; however, Jantz said he won’t be able to provide visitations Christmas Eve and Christmas Day because many of his staff members will be off work.

Wednesday’s visitations will be handled normally, the sheriff added, meaning it will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Jail personnel will try their best to make sure everyone who arrives gets in to see the person he or she wants to, the sheriff said.
