Craig briefs: Church to display nativity scenes

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1295 W. Ninth St., is hosting its Sixth Annual Community Christmas Nativity Display.

More than 400 nativity scenes will be on display.

Admission is free, and people can view the scenes by entering through the north door of the church.

The display will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Bookstore hosting book signing Dec. 19

Downtown Books, 543 Yampa Ave., will host a book signing party Dec. 19 for local author and dog trainer, Laura Tyler.

Tyler recently published, “The Story of Little Becky Robin,” a children’s book about her experience in helping a baby bird.

Laura will be giving a presentation along with signing her books from 1 to 3 p.m. on the 19.

Light refreshments will be served. The event is open to the public. For more information, call 824-5343.

Enroll in 2010 Moffat County 4-H

Enrollments are now being taken for the 2010 Moffat County 4-H program year.

4-H enables youths ages 8 to 18 to participate in hands-on projects, attend camps, make new friends, acquire and/or improve their leadership and public speaking skills, and more.

Tree auction set for Sunday in Hayden

A Christmas tree auction is scheduled to take place at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Routt County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall in Hayden.

The auction features decorated wreaths, trees and centerpieces created by area youth groups and service organizations.

Book club to review 3 works Thursday

The Craig Book Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at First Congregational Church, 630 Green St. Club member Marty Cisar will review “Sunflower and the Secret Fan,” “Peony in Love,” and “Shanghai Girls.” Marian Simons is scheduled to host.
