The Grand Futures Prevention Coalition is hosting a "splash event" for seventh and eighth graders from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. today at Craig City Pool.
There will be pizza, swimming and music at the event. The cost is $6.
Community yard sale Saturday at church
First Congregational Church, 630 Green St., will host the first "Junk in the Trunk" community yard sale in its south parking lot from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The cost for people to sell items at the event is $10 for two parking spaces and a table, if needed. Sellers should arrive at 8 a.m. to begin setting up, and payment is made on site.
Proceeds will benefit the church's Capital Campaign Furnace Fund.

The church will host a similar event Sept. 12 at the same location and with the same hours.
Tickets available for Craig Fire/Rescue event
The 70th annual Craig Fire/Rescue Firefighter's Ball/Luau is scheduled for 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the OP Bar & Grill, 534 E. Victory Way.
Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from any firefighter or by calling Ashley at the fire station at 824-5914.
All proceeds benefit the Craig Fire/Rescue High School Scholarship Fund.
Moffat County Road 41 temporarily closed
Moffat County Road 41 will be temporarily closed starting at 8 a.m. today for culvert replacement, the county's road department announced Thursday.
The road will reopen no later than 4 p.m. today.

AARP schedules annual gathering for Aug. 24
AARP Chapter No. 1418 will have its annual picnic at noon Aug. 24 at Craig City Park. Chicken will be provided. Visitors are asked to bring a side dish, table service and beverages.
In case of rain, the picnic will take place at the Craig Fire Station, 419 Yampa Ave.
