Moffat County Social Services is scheduled to distribute United States Department of Agriculture commodities later this month.
Social Services will distribute from 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 18 at 595 Breeze St., in Craig. Maybell distribution is from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Aug. 19 at the town's community center.
Dinosaur distribution is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Social Services' office.

Elks Lodge organizing dinner for veterans
The Elks Lodge will host a dinner for all veterans from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 22 at the lodge, 43 W. Victory Way. The dinner is free to veterans.

Archaeologist to teach local class about lithics
The Vermillion Chapter of the Colorado Archaeological Society is offering a class on prehistoric lithics and description Aug. 28 through 30. The lithics course introduces individuals to the technology of stone tool manufacture, the identification of tool classes, and basic lithic analysis.

The Craig Chamber of Commerce is accepting registration for its annual Mud Splash mud volleyball tournament. The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. Aug. 15 at Loudy-Simpson Park, west of the soccer fields.
Hunter education course starts Aug. 17
The Colorado Division of Wildlife is sponsoring a Hunter Education Course for four nights beginning Aug. 17. Classes will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at Colorado Northwestern Community College's Craig campus. All four classes must be attended. Space is limited, and pre-registration is encouraged.

The 70th annual Craig Fire/Rescue Firefighter's Ball/Luau is scheduled for
