Business beat: Mountain States adds to personnel and fleet

Change is in the air at The Mountain States Company in Craig. Nancy Bohrer started working at the business March 10 as the new office manager.
Bohrer formerly worked in sales at Abbey Carpets and now is responsible for taking work orders, handling invoices and the billing at The Mountain States Company.
Owner Ron Spencer said, "She is very efficient and friendly."
The business also has added a new pump truck to its fleet.
The Mountain States Company is an electrical contractor and installs pumps. The new pump truck is a 2009 1-ton Chevrolet diesel with a 5-ton Smeal pump derrick, which stands 33 feet tall.

Tamara Piona, of Craig, has opened up a new landscaping business. The catchy name of her new company is Thirsty Thistles. Piona used to work for Steamboat Resorts in Steamboat Springs and assisted with landscaping.
Piona says that she loves to be outside, and "I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me."
Thirsty Thistles offers all landscaping services from spring cleanup to lawn mowing. In addition, Piona truly loves to design and install flower beds.

Spruce up with paint
Nine months ago, Chris Dotson went out on his own after working for about 4 1/2 years as a supervisor for Spiegel and Sons Painting in Steamboat Springs.
Dotson's business is Performance Painting and Custom Finishing. The majority of his work has been residential - exterior and interior paint jobs and custom finishing wood furniture, doors and/or windows. Commercial painting also is a service he offers.
Dotson says, ""What I really like to do is Venetian plasters, foam finishes, but I enjoy being outside during the summer."
