Elk foundation raising money
Craig The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is hosting a fundraiser this weekend, with the proceeds benefiting elk and other wildlife. The fundraiser is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday at the Holiday Inn of Craig.
There will be dinner, prizes and auctions, organizers said.

Local guitar students to perform Saturday
Remember the songs from the summer of love? If not, visit the Center of Craig on Saturday night.
At 6:30 p.m., local guitar students will perform songs from the 1967 to 1969 time period. Admission is free.
An opening reception is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Event sponsors are First String Music in Steamboat Springs, Party Smart Steamboat and Kloos & Associates, of Craig.
Water resources meeting today
The Colorado Division of Water Resources, in partnership with the Colorado River Water Conservation District, and the Fish and Wildlife Service, is hosting an informational meeting at 4 p.m. today at the Holiday Inn of Craig.
Elkhead Creek Reservoir operations and releases will be at the center of the discussion.
All interested water users on lower Elkhead Creek and the Yampa River, downstream of Elkhead Creek, are encouraged to attend the public meeting.
9Health Fair on April 23, 25 in Craig
The 9Health Fair is hosting two health care events this month in Craig.
On April 23, the 9Health Fair senior blood draw takes place at Sunset Meadows II, 595 Ledford St., for people 65 and older.
The blood draw is from 7 to 11 a.m.
Visitors will be able to get several different screenings. They include: a blood chemistry screening ($30), blood cell count screening ($15), and a Prostate Specimen Antigen screening for men older than 40 ($25). A colon cancer screening kit will be available for purchase for $20.
On April 25, the 9Health Fair moves to Sunset Elementary School, at Seventh and Green streets.
It runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Free screenings will be offered for breast cancer, finger stick glucose, blood pressure, oral cancer and lung function. The screenings that are offered on the 23rd also will be offered on the 25th at the same costs.
Both events, which are sponsored by the Craig Lions Club, are open to people 18 and older. For more information about the 9Health Fair events, call Kristi Shepherd at 824-5814.
Seedling trees for sale through today
The Colorado First Conservation District is taking orders for seedling trees. The deadline to order is today.
Order forms can be picked up at the Colorado County Extension Office, 539 Barclay St.; the Bureau of Land Management office, 455 Emerson; or the Colorado First Conservation District office, 145 Commerce St.
Trees will be available for pick up in early May. For more information, call 824-3476, ext. 101.

Free cardiovascular assessments by VNA
Free cardiovascular assessments are offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 30 at the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association's Craig office, 745 Russell St.
Tests include a full cholesterol panel, glucose level and body mass index.
