Craig Sea Sharks announces the hiring of Caitlin Conci, Sara Kurz and Stacey Zenker as the coaching team for the 2009 summer swim season.
Conci and Zenker bring collegiate competitive swim experience to Craig's summer swim club, and Kurz brings enthusiasm for sports and working with children.
"We're encouraged and excited by the knowledge and experience in competitive swimming these coaches bring to our team," said Sherry Bird, Sea Shark board member.
Bird explained that the recruitment process for coaches this year included conversations with parents and past Sea Shark coaches to help the board determine what would best meet the needs of the team.
Interim coach Zenker, a University of Wyoming graduate, will head up practices for the Sea Sharks in April and May. Zenker has collegiate swimming and water polo experience.
Head coach Conci will join the team May 18 after completing her first year at the University of North Dakota, where she swims competitively. She began her swim career with Sea Sharks at the age of 8 and also swam for the Moffat County High School Bulldogs.
Assistant coach Sara Kurz returns to Sea Sharks for her second season. Kurz is a past Sea Sharks competitor and plays on the MCHS varsity volleyball team.
Registration for Craig Sea Sharks is still available. To sign up, attend practice at 4 p.m. April 17 or 9 a.m. April 18.
Seas Sharks offers two alternatives for youth interested in pursuing competitive swimming.
The Gold Team practices weekdays during the summer and is designed for swimmers committed to representing Sea Sharks at area meets.
The Silver Team practices two days a week and is designed for swimmers interested in figuring out whether competitive swimming is for them. Silver Team members also are encouraged to participate in meets.
