Chris Gingrich: Time for bargain hunting

Some early castoffs looking good now

In the second week of the season, fantasy football players really can start to tell who is going to be in their lineup week-in and week-out. Now is the time to target underachieving players for trades and look through the waiver wire for bargains.

Here are two players who I think you can target for trades and you might actually get them because of their lackluster starts this season.

Peyton Manning, Quarterback, Indianapolis Colts - Manning is off to an unusually slow start this season with just two touchdowns and two interceptions. It might not be all that bad, but some Manning owners might be willing to trade him off for the right offer. If you need a quality quarterback and are willing to part with one or two players, Manning could be yours.

Chad Ocho Cinco (formerly Chad Johnson), Wide Receiver, Cincinatti Bengals - Well, my prediction about him hasn't exactly come true. He's actually in the cellar as far as wideouts are concerned this year, with a total of five fantasy points. I'm pretty sure some of his owners are willing to part ways with him, and he might be had for a cheap price.

Maybe you're not in the position to trade with anyone and you just want to pick up someone off the waiver wire. Here are two guys I think are worth picking up if you're in need of a tight end or a running back.

Tony Scheffler, Tight End, Denver Broncos - Scheffler was dropped in a lot of leagues before the season started because he wasn't the Broncos' starting tight end in week one. What a bad idea it was to drop him, as he is currently ranked 19th in the Yahoo game with two touchdowns, along with 136 yards and 25 fantasy points.

Tim Hightower, Running Back, Arizona Cardinals - I know I've mentioned him before, but he is a great pick up right now. He has two touchdowns in his first two games of the season and 19 fantasy points so far. He's not getting a lot of yards, but he's not being used as a first option either. He will get you touchdowns and average about nine points per game, which is good if you're lacking in the running back department.

I also have to give some props to Eddie Royal. Looks like he is more than just a special teams guy. He's looking great and is ranked 12th in the Yahoo game thus far with two touchdowns, a two-point conversion, 183 yards and 31 fantasy points.

Good luck with your teams in Week 3, everyone!
