Inconsistency is holding back the Moffat County High School rodeo team, coach Dave Fleming said Wednesday.
Last weekend, six team members traveled to Cortez for three rodeos, and several of the team members placed in events, including Eric Fleming, who won the all-around boys competition.
"It was our first rodeo of the year," Dave Fleming said. "I thought we did good, but we could have done better."
While Dave Fleming said he was happy with Eric Fleming's performance, he said he was worried about consistency from other team members, a few of whom had one strong day but struggled the next.
The coach said he has higher expectation for next weekend's two rodeos in Hotchkiss.
However, the team members will have to work hard on building consistency this week in practice, Dave Fleming said.
He said that was especially key for his top three boys and girls and that the rest of his team had "some little things" to work on.
"We'll just keep moving forward and try to become a little more consistent," Dave Fleming said.
While six team members competed in the Cortez rodeos, five will head to Hotchkiss this weekend, he said.
