Craig I am writing this week's column to you from Honolulu, Hawaii, where I have been on vacation for about a week. Even though I'm having a great time, I have been able to keep up with what's going on in the world of Fantasy Football.
I had to wake up at 7 a.m. to catch the start of Sunday's games, beginning with the upset Buffalo handed to San Diego. It looks like Trent Edwards is going to keep chugging along and putting up great numbers for those owners who snagged him off the waiver wire at the beginning of the season.
It's not looking good for owners of Cincinatti players, such as Chad Johnson, Carson Palmer and the running back duo of Chris Perry and Kenny Watson. I think Ocho Cinco will put together a few good games this season, as he showed signs of life Sunday with a touchdown catch in their loss to Pittsburgh.
For those of you who stuck with guys like Ryan Grant, Steven Jackson and Willis McGahee through a few weeks of struggles, your patience was rewarded Sunday when all three of them landed in the top 10 of the running back scoring leaders. The most notable of those three running backs was Ryan Grant. He finally fell back into the good graces of his owners by delivering a solid 105-yard and one touchdown game after six weeks of subpar performances.
As for running back pickups for the upcoming week, I am liking what I see from Mewelde Moore of Pittsburgh, and I highly recommend grabbing him off the waivers before he has another big game, such as Sunday's when he had 130 yards, two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. As long as Willie Parker is out, Moore will be the go-to guy in the backfield for the Steelers. I also like what Deangelo Williams is doing for the Carolina Panthers' ground attack. He still is putting up good numbers while sharing the ball with rookie back Jonathon Stewart and should continue to do so for the rest of the year. With Joseph Addai out another week for the Colts, a very good pickup comes in the form of his backup, Dominic Rhodes. Rhodes scored a pair of touchdowns Sunday to go along with 73 yards rushing and 41 yards receiving on four receptions.
If anyone would like to e-mail me with questions about who to sit and start or good waiver wire pickups, feel free to e-mail me, and I will answer questions personally or in an upcoming column.
Good luck with your teams in Week 8, and I'll be back again next week with another rundown of performances and waiver wire pickups.
