Young Life, businesses host barbecue

Before Friday's home football game at Moffat County High School, Steamboat Springs and Moffat County Young Life, along with Yampa Valley Bank and Nanaco Outdoors will host a community tailgating barbecue. It will start at 6 p.m. in the southwest end of the parking lot at Moffat County High School.

It is free, and people from Craig and Steamboat are welcome to attend.

Church to host chili supper Friday

St. Mark's Episcopal and Lutheran Church of Grace will host a chili supper from 5 to 7;30 p.m. Friday at the church, 657 Green St. Chili and dessert will be offered. For $10, attendees can enter a drawing for a Kansas turkey hunt. A free will offering also will be taken at the event. Proceeds benefit the church. For more information, call 824-3470.

Political candidates debate Oct. 16 in Craig

Nine candidates for five political races that will affect Moffat County's future plan to appear at 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at Centennial Mall in Craig to debate the issues in front of a live crowd.

KRAI 97.3 and 55 Country will broadcast the debate live on the radio. There will be video of the debate available on craigdailypress.com Oct. 17.

The debate is free and open to the public.

Residents are encouraged to submit their own questions for the candidates to 2008debate@craigdailypress.com or they may call Jacobson at 875-1788.

Hanel and Jacobson will decide which questions to present each candidate. Jacobson said their decisions will be based entirely on what issues apply to each candidate.
