The American Legion Post 62 raffle for the Remington Model 700 BDL 30-06 with a variable 3-9x40 Leupold scope ends Saturday. If you wish to enter, purchase your tickets now. Tickets cost $5 each or are 5 for $20.
The drawing will be held during the Bingo session at the Elk's Club and you do not need to be present to win.
Breakfast at the VFW continues. If you haven't tried it, now is the time. Breakfast is served from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. There is a full menu and selections. The breakfast potatoes are to die for.
Veteran flu shots
Shot clinics will be scheduled once the vaccine arrives. If you get a flu shot from another provider, make sure that that information gets into your medical history log.
It is same with any other vaccination you get elsewhere. Good news for Moffat County vets is that to enroll in the VAMC healthcare system once the new staff is in place at the clinic will not mean a trip to the main facility in Grand Junction.
The new staff is to include a PA on site who will do the physical assessment. If there are significant health issues, it may mean a trip to the VAMC in Grand Junction for proper treatment or further testing.
Office hours extended
The Moffat county VSO office will be open today and tomorrow to make up for my absence this past week. Rides to the VAMC in Grand Junction will be scheduled, and Maxson will transport as required.
For information on these programs and/or other veterans' benefits, call or stop in the Moffat County VSO office at 480 Barclay St. (west of the Bank of Colorado parking lot). Call 970-824-3246 or use the fax 970-824-7108. Our e-mail address is email@example.com. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Other times can be arranged by appointment only. Bring a copy of your separation papers (DD-214) for application for VA programs and for filing at our office.
