Lynne Herring: To the American people

To the editor:

This letter is to the American people. I know, no one in this country is sitting in front of his or her TV watching the destruction of this country and blaming this on the government. It is not the government's fault all this is going wrong. It is our fault! We have elected these people. Every election, we listen to both sides, and we believe they are telling us the truth. We do no homework as to what they are saying. We pay no attention to their voting records or who they hang around with and whom they take advice from. We do not remember our history; we have not read or remembered the Declaration of Independence or the U.S. Constitution. We have no clue what socialism or Communism are.

I say all this because this financial crash has been going on for a very long time. We as voters seem to be sound asleep. We vote Democratic because we have always voted Democratic, or we vote Republican for the same reason. And then we sit back and take for granted that those we elect will do their job. And when they don't, we wait for the next election, and again vote and vote and vote without changing anything. And to make matters worse, we believe everything we see on TV and read in papers and magazines.

When are we going to wake up and recognize the system is broken and this country we love is being destroyed because of politics, because of Republicans and Democrats? We also need to wake up to the fact that big media (TV and print) already have picked the next president of the United States, and they are going to do everything they can to pull the wool over our eyes. I believe they are as dishonest as the day is long. I believe politicians will do or say anything to get elected, and the one thing they will not do is tell us the truth.

Our economy is broken, our ability to take care of our own energy is non-existent, and we have left the back door to our country wide open for every terrorist, drug gang and convict from other countries to come through. And while we sit back and watch the partisan bickering and finger pointing, on all sides, the vultures (Iran, Russia, China) are flying overhead, ready to pick our bones.

So, for those who believe in God, I am asking you to pray for this country. Pray for those leaders who are true and honest, that they will have the strength to do what is right and voices (loud voices) to reach the people of America. Pray that we as a people will be able to recognize socialism and communism for the truly evil that they are and that we as a people will realize that government cannot nor should it solve all our problems. Government housing is socialism. At no time has socialism ever worked without bringing its people to bondage, financial and physical. Please pray for us all.

I think it is great that you are going to vote your conscience, but starting January 20th you have to live with one of the two major candidates. Voting your conscience will hopefully help you sleep at night which is a good thing I guess, because you'll be spending most of your day just trying to find work to feed your family over the next eight years regardless of who gets elected.

Lynn I have to admit that this is a great article. You are right in stating that "WE" the people are to blame for many of the problems that we are facing today. In years like this when we are electing an individual for president and various other state and local officials we find that the stories and false statements are running wild. Each candidate accusing the other candidate and their political party of causing all the problems that we face today. If they would look at the record they would find that both parties are responsible for this mess. When Ilisten to the candidates I find that the promises and things that each individual. changes their story or stance on an issue according to the gathering they are addressing at the time. All I ask for is for each individual to take the blame and quit accusing each other. After all we have a multi-tiered government and no one can do anything by themselves. These problems have worked their way up the ladder and We are the ones to blame because we elected these individuals. I say it is time for the population to become educated on the candidates and if you don't believe in the candidate "Don't" elect them. All we have to do is look at histories of other countries and their rise to power and then their destruction is because of power hungry individuals that run the government. So please educate yourself on the facts (I don't mean just listen to what they promise) and their past support or non support of an issue. Then make up your mind and vote for the individual that you feel will do the best job and agree with your beliefs. I say don't vote for an individual just because they are in one of the political party or the other political party. I guess what I am trying to say is don't vote the party but the individual. Please get out and vote on election day and they you will have the right to agree with or disagree with the individual that is elected. If you don't vote then keep your mouth shut. You do not have the right to complain about how the country is being run.

You are correct Lynne and good job.

Last year at the Rep. dinner at the Holiday Inn....we were told to vote McCane....NO DEBATE. Blind leading the blind.. I've since done my homework and will not be voting for this man. No vote for Obama either, again I did my homework.

Third party America. There are more Independents than Rep. and Dems. combined.....the MSM just isn't telling you the truth.

Call DC and tell them how you feel....1-202-224-3121 (whitehouse switchboard)

btw, Allard voted NO to the bailout but he's stepping down this year and couldn't be blackmailed.

It looks like congress is full of liars and whores. Franks needs to does DODD. Barnie Franks and Dodd were in charge of the finance committee and diid nothing.

You can view the hearings on-line at have them archieved.

By not voting, you will have to accept whoever wins, and you can't whine. If you do vote, then if the candidate who wins will give you the right to cheer or do a world-class whine. But as I said, if you don't vote, you will not have any lines, either way. The choice is yours
