A new family practitioner has accepted a job offer from The Memorial Hospital, TMH Chief Executive Officer George Rohrich told the hospital's board at its meeting Tuesday night.
Dr. Andy Hughes is expected to join the staff at TMH in February, according to Rohrich, who said that Hughes gave his verbal acceptance only an hour before the 7 p.m. board meeting Tuesday night.
"We, as an organization, are just so excited," Rohrich said after Tuesday's meeting. "He is a wonderful fit for the hospital and the city of Craig."
Hughes is the second new doctor hired at TMH in recent weeks. Obstetrician and gynecologist KC Keating, a resident at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, committed Nov. 14 to come to Craig, with a start date at TMH in July 2009.
The hospital still has more recruiting to do, though, Rohrich said, telling the board that their current success may slow down in coming months.
However, Rohrich said December is the prime time to recruit residents to work at hospitals such as TMH.
"I think it will just continue to build momentum," he said, of the recent hires and future recruitment of doctors.
