The Moffat County High School swimming pool is now open for public swimming. Lap swimming takes place from 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 12 to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Recreational swimming will immediately follow lap swimming. The pool closes at 8:15 p.m. weeknights and at 4 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, call 826-6557.

GRAND JUNCTION - WWII Veterans of Western Colorado are now one step closer to visiting their long-awaited WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C., thanks to a group of patriotic citizens in Grand Junction. The Honor Flight Network Headquarters announced the formation of a new hub, Western Slope Honor Flight. The mission of Honor Flight is to transport America’s veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and the ultimate sacrifices of their friends. The goal of Western Slope Honor Flight is to make this dream a reality for local members of “The Greatest Generation” who have waited so long for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
