Sixteen-year-old James Hebert and 17-year-old Kaleigh Cutler looked up at a three-word epitaph: “Rock in Peace.” Scrawled in gold spray paint, the words adorn a large wall of weathered plywood dug into a dirt hill at Sherwood, a local BMX park. The wall is a testament to their late friend’s twin passions for bike riding and music with a message.

Craig couple finds each other after losing loved ones

For two young Craig natives, memorials of loved ones lost to life’s tragic circumstances are never far away. Jordan Bailey, 20, a 2006 Moffat County High School graduate and first-year U.S. Navy man, keeps a silver cross containing some of the ashes of his late father, Michael Bailey, of Craig. Kacie Owens, 18, a 2008 MCHS graduate, has a tattoo of a cross covered in an olive branch with words paying tribute to her late cousin, Cassie Owens, also of Craig. Both Michael Bailey and Cassie Owens were taken far too soon.
