It takes more than some water and a hose to get a city pool up and running.
The Craig Swimming Complex is no different.
“It’s a huge process getting everything squared away,” said Sylvia Griffiths, pool complex aquatics manager.
The 43-member staff, including 26 lifeguards, 10 pool aides and various other employees, is working hard to get everything up to speed before the public opening of the lap pool Monday.
The wave pool is expected to be open by next weekend.
A busload of Sunset Elementary students pulled up Friday, ready to have their first dunks of the season as part of a reward program.
As the lifeguards climbed up to their perches and the kids jumped into the pool splashing and laughing, it became obvious the hard work will be rewarded with a great summer by the pool.
