— I wish to thank all who attended the Memorial Day services at the Craig cemetery and the services at the Maybell cemetery Monday.

The weather held out for us, although there were some light showers and some strong winds. I also must thank all those who took time Sunday evening to set out the gravesite flags and those who showed up Monday evening to retrieve them.

There was a small group both times, but those there pitched right in and the job was finished quickly.

I wish to recognize those adults who brought out their children and/or grandchildren to learn the meaning of "volunteerism" on behalf of those laid to rest. Thanks to Stefan and Meats girls. Thanks also to others I might not have known were there.

Coordinating several groups and areas to cover sometimes takes my head out of the whole picture.

Thanks to John and Mary Lou Allen for once again providing the sound system. I also wish to recognize Gavin Thompson for his keynote address and all the news media teams that so thoroughly covered the events with words and pictures.

From the veteran community, thanks crew. And, I almost forgot, thanks to the Rotary Club for lining the streets with flags.

YVEA donates to Caring Consumers Foundation

I wish to thank the Yampa Valley Electric Association and their members who donate to the Caring Consumers Foundation for their generous funding for this coming year.

The MoCo Veterans Service Office will use these funds for veteran transport to the VAMC or Telehealth Clinic plus other needy assistance requests that come from veterans and/or their dependants. Thanks again for your continued support.

Huck Finn 'Fishing Day' scheduled for June 7

June 7 marks the upcoming Huck Finn Day and a free fishing day in Colorado. The VFW and other community service organizations will provide this annual event again at the Loudy-Simpson lagoons.
