Dennis Collins: Gratitude for MCHS Class of 2008
May 27, 2008
Craig To the Editor:
I want to take this opportunity to thank the Moffat County High School class of 2008 for including me as a classmate Saturday at graduation.
You guys made my day.
My high school diploma, while probably not as necessary as yours, is just as important to me.
When I returned home from the service in 1968, there were no "support our troops" bumper stickers. Quite the contrary, in fact. But, standing on the stage, looking into your faces, reminded me of why we were fighting. You were definitely worth it.
As you know, I had the struggle of my life last year. I went through a terrible surgery called a radical neck dissection. When I woke from surgery, there was my wife, praying for me, and on my left was Jeff and Clarice Corriveau.
The next time I woke up, there was Tim and Julie Jantz.
The moral here is that when you come from Craig, friends eventually become family. Hold on to them, love them, be there for them.
If any of you who intend to attend mesa state need anything at all, we are in the phone book.
See you all at the 10, 20, and who knows, maybe the 30-year reunions.
