Craig About six months after a Nov. 25, 2007 fire destroyed the Country Mall at 356 Ranney St., the company that insured the building is increasing its reward.
Craig Police Department and Craig Fire/Rescue officials deemed the fire an arson following their investigations. No arrests have been made.
Continental Divide Insurance is offering a $25,000 payment for information relating to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the fire. The reward was increased from $10,000 offered previously.
The fire caused thousands of dollars in damages and displaced a multitude of businesses and government offices. Those include Horizons Specialized Services, a nonprofit group serving people with developmental disabilities, and the Yampa Valley Pregnancy Center.
Those offices have reopened, but others have not found new locations or are undecided whether they will open again.
CrimeStoppers also offers a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
In the event that more than one caller offers the same information, callers will share the reward amounts.
Anyone with information can call CrimeStoppers at 824-3535 and may remain anonymous.
