Student news: Jenna and John Beckerman


Jenna and John Beckerman graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ft. Lewis College in April, earning outstanding graduating seniors in their departments.

Jenna graduated from Moffat County High School in 2003. Jenna was awarded a Presidential Scholarship to attend Western Washington University in Bellingham, Wash., for the fall semester of 2004. She returned to Colorado in the spring of 2005 to attend and complete her college education at Fort Lewis College.

At Fort Lewis, Jenna received alumni scholarships, was consistently named to the Dean's List and received the Ronnie Thomas Memorial Scholarship, an anthropology specific scholarship. She has been named Outstanding Graduating Senior of the Anthropology Department and was nominated for Outstanding Club President.

Jenna has accepted a position with the Tatanka Hotshots in the Black Hills, S.D., for the 2008 fire season.

John graduated from MCHS in 2004. He has attended Fort Lewis College since the fall of 2004. In May 2006, John received the POLYED Undergraduate Award for Achievement in Organic Chemistry for his outstanding performance in organic chemistry courses. In 2007, John received the Mills/Wiley Physical Chemistry Award for his outstanding achievement in physical chemistry.

He will be receiving the American Institute of Chemists Senior Award from the Faculty of the Department of Chemistry when he graduates this year.

In addition to these honors, John also has been consistently named to the Dean's List for his academics each year.

After graduation, John will attend graduate school at Oregon State University where he will study/work with the nuclear chemistry department.
