'Herald' in fundraiser for Hospice
This is the 15th year of Hospice care in the Yampa Valley. Hospice began in 1993 with a gift from the John Ritter family. The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Care has been caring for the terminally ill ever since.
Those who wish to ensure this service remains on-going can do so by donating with your purchase of daffodils on March 18. The daffodils, called "Heralds of Hope," have been a hallmark of Hospice for eight years. You can purchase Hospice daffodils at Alpine Floral, City Market, Safeway, Bamboo Market, Clark Store and the Visiting Nurse Association. In Hayden they will be available at the Mercantile. In Craig they will be at the City Market, Safeway, The Flower Mine and the Visiting Nurse Association.
Call the VNA at 879-1632 for more information.
EDP seminar on taxes Wednesday
The Craig/Moffat Economic Development Partnership and the Moffat County Assessor's Office will host a free seminar Wednesday on "understanding your business property taxes."
The seminar is set for 7:45 to 9:30 a.m. inside the second-floor conference room at the Moffat County Courthouse, 201 Victory Way. Admission is free.
"Learn the difference between assessed value and actual value, understand the Gallagher Amendment and answer the question, 'why are business property taxes three to four times higher than residential taxes?'" the EDP reported in a news release.
The seminar also will give visitors a clearer picture of what the mill levy is, "how it works and where your tax dollars are put to use in the community."
For more information, call EDP executive specialist Darcy Trask at 826-2039 or 846-1663.
