The Craig/Moffat Economic Development Partnership and the Moffat County Assessor’s Office will host a free seminar Wednesday, March 12 on “understanding your business property taxes.”
The seminar is set for 7:45 to 9:30 a.m. inside the second-floor conference room at the Moffat County Courthouse, 201 Victory Way. Admission is free.
“Learn the difference between assessed value and actual value, understand the Gallagher Amendment and answer the question, ‘why are business property taxes three to four times higher than residential taxes?’” the EDP reported in a news release.
The seminar also will give visitors a clearer picture of what the mill levy is, “how it works and where your tax dollars are put to use in the community.”
