Craig Daily Press / ACET arrests county employee for alleged narcotic distribution

The All Crimes Enforcement Team has arrested three people for alleged distribution of narcotics, including a Moffat County employee who allegedly sold while on duty, the task force reported this afternoon.

The following people were arrested:

• Cody Jones, 19, on suspicion of unlawful distribution of a schedule 2 controlled substance — cocaine — a class 3 felony.

• Travis Johnson, 19, on suspicion of unlawful distribution of a schedule 2 substance — Cocaine — a class 3 felony.

Jones and Johnson were arrested Tuesday.

• Carla Roloff, 57, on suspicion of unlawful distribution of a schedule 2 controlled substance — methamphetamine — a class 3 felony.

Roloff, a Dinosaur resident, is a Moffat County Department of Social Services employee. She was arrested this morning in Dinosaur.

ACET reported that the charge against Roloff stems from “one of several undercover purchases of methamphetamine.”

The task force also alleges that one of the purchases occurred at the Social Services’ office in Dinosaur while Roloff was on duty.

The incidents alleged against the three suspects are unrelated, ACET reported.

On the serious side, it makes you wonder who is in charge of Social Services. I'll bet Marie Peer hasn't been to the Dinosaur office in years nor does she have any idea what is going on down there. Possibly she has been too busy traveling out of town to bigshot meetings or whatever. And the second best bet is that it's been months (or longer) since a supervisor has been down there. It's about time the County Commissioners figure out that Peer is about as poor a department head as they have and that she is totally out of touch with what's going on in that department.

PS: If the commissioners were offended that a DA candidate had used a county building for a public meeting, they should be livid that a county building was used to sell drugs!

Silentman-you are 100% correct.

50cal, the person arrested was NOT a case worker. Get your info correct before you post something so ignorant.

And for those of you that are unhappy that the county has obviously hired people in the past with criminal backgrounds, then you need to call Human Resources and ask them how this could happen.

All of this falls back to the management practices and how poorly some of our county departments are managed. The county Commissioners are the only people that can do anything about this so everyone that has an opinion should voice it to them versus just sitting around talking about it.

didn't call her a case worker slow down and read it again. stop at that little dot right after the word fraud for a second and it will make a little more since. read some other articals and you will see that people going and complaining or protesting the decisions of the local government doesn't change a thing they decide.

I will give you credit where its due though it is the management practices that have gotten us here.maybe I just didn't put it right for you but its the same end.

Putting someone in charge of benifits and entitlements who has been convicted of those crimes in her past is like opening the grainery door to a horse I wonder how much will now have to be spent going back through the claims and other associated paperwork to make sure she wasn't defrauding the programs avalable to the residents in dinosaur? Or do you think it will be checked?

I'll bet that this county employee did her job quite well. Did you notice that she has been at the same job for 12 years? I'm thinking of all the responsibility it takes to do that job for 12 years. Theres alot of opinions and bad attitudes over a persons past. It's strange how much longer it takes for a mistake or any negative event in a persons life to fade compared to good deeds and positive efforts. Everybody makes mistakes. Anybody can change. I admire a person that has some challenging experiences at any level and is able to change their life to not make the same mistakes. I'll also bet that doing something good for an elderly neighbor or reading a story to a child or two would truly feel better than talking this county employee down.

You know your right it probably would except one thing. Has anyone followed the story in steamboat about the two bank employees at alpine bank who stole over one million from alpine bank? these employees might change and be productive again would you trust them around money? would you like them at your bank window next? Past practices will tell you what to and what not to trust someone at. If she was convicted of larcony and fraud then should she be in a position where she is helping residents with forms to fill out that may or may not entitle them to benifits? that seems a little spooky to me. at least maria peer is admiting there is a problem Tom Grey is dumbfounded over the problem and can't figure it out.

The person arrested did not have access to client's benefits or even to determine eligibility for any programs. Any paper work she got in her office was sent to Craig to be processed so no I do not think that they will go back through any of her work to make sure she wasn't committing fraud.

they are already in the process of doing a full audit of her paper work. so i have heard, if you know better than my source might be wrong, but having acsess and being able to show people loopholes or how to defraud are two differnt things.

Theowl—Did her job quite well???? Where do you come up with that given the fact that she was selling drugs AT her workplace. She was/is employed at the county—she was selling drugs presumably on the clock, otherwise why would she be there. Selling METH at work does not equate to doing a good job. How do you call that earning your pay???

thats like holding down three jobs, she had to help people with forms, sell drugs and fool the county thats a pretty heavy work load. owl I can understand you wanting to feel compasion for the people who get hooked by meth but REALLY the dealers too?

Sure—Let's feel sorry for the dealer too. In this day and age, there is no personal responsibility for anything any more. It isn't her fault she was selling meth. I don't know owl—Maybe it's your fault she did it. It's probably the county's fault. Heck—maybe it's President Bush's fault. He seems to be getting blamed for everything else. Let's add this to it. I'm sure she is a wonderful person who would me a model citizen if it wasn't for just one little thing–she is selling meth to parents of children.

I heard it was because Dinosaur was jealous over Craig's new slogan of “Elk Hunting Capitol” - it was an effort to boost tourism - although not very well thought out and it did seem to backfire..oh, and their target market research was a bit off. I guess I would suggest something more on the lines of “Dinosaur Capitol of Moffat County” - might bring in a better crowd.
