CNCC names new basketball, golf coach
Craig Colorado Northwestern Community College has hired a new head coach for baseball and golf.
Tom Cassera will take over the baseball program, based out of Rangely, and will introduce a new golf program, which he will coach in the fall.
Cassera comes to Rangely from his hometown of Damascus, Md., Where he had been a physical education/health teacher for 26 years. Cassera has coached at the middle school level for 10 years, high school level for 15 years and was head baseball coach at Montgomery College in Germantown, Md.
Cassera was named the Maryland State College Baseball Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2004; Region XX Coach of the Year in 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. "I am thoroughly ecstatic to be here in Rangely, and I can't stop thinking about all the things I can bring to this athletic program," he said in a news release.
Thunder Rolls to host annual mixed tourney
Thunder Rolls Bowling Center, 990 Industrial Ave., is hosting the 21st annual Colorado state United States Bowling Congress mixed bowling tournament July 12 to 13 and July 19 to 20.
The entry fee is $20 per bowler, per event. The deadline to register for the event by telephone is June 20. In person entries will be accepted until June 30.
