Bank to host Customer Appreciation Day

First National Bank of the Rockies will host a Customer Appreciation Day at the Craig branch, 600 Yampa Ave., on June 27. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“We want to thank our customers and the community for their business and invite them to come in, enjoy some lunch and hopefully win a great prize,” bank manager Robert Wiens said in a news release.

In addition to a barbecue of bratwurst and hotdogs, bank customers can enter to win one of several miscellaneous prizes, including a barbecue grill, fire pit and camping set, which includes a power chill cooler, two camp chairs, a lantern and a canopy screen tent. Customers can enter the drawing for the prizes now until the drawing takes place at 2 p.m. June 27.

“We think it’s a great way to kick off summer by offering our customers the chance to win something to enjoy this beautiful area we live in, not to mention letting them know how much we appreciate them choosing us as their bank,” Wiens said.

Conservation District sets meeting date

The Colorado First Conservation District will host its annual meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Wyman Museum, 94350 E. U.S. Highway 40. All cooperators are welcome.

Rotary speaker to make presentation on trip

The Craig Rotary Club invites the public to its meeting at 7 a.m. Tuesday at the Golden Cavvy Restaurant for a presentation by featured speaker Mike Guida, of Meeker.

Guida will give a presentation of his trip with a group of young business leaders from Arizona that went to Tamil Nadu, India. The group spent a month on a cultural exchange funded by the Rotary Foundation.

Daughters of the American Revolution

Anyone interested in becoming a member of a renewed chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution in the Craig area should call Shannan Koucherik at 824-9518. Free assistance is available to help women trace family lines to their revolutionary patriots.

The DAR is a national organization dedicated to patriotism and education.

College to host Relay for Life fundraisers

Colorado Northwestern Community College is scheduled to host a community barbecue and garage sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 20 at the college campus, 50 College Dr. Entry is free, but donations will be accepted. All proceeds will benefit the Craig Relay for Life.

Garage sale donations may be delivered to the Bell Tower Building on June 19. For more information, call 824-1109.

Upcoming presentation to focus on wellness

Dr. Pamela Kinder, a neurologist from Kinder Family Clinic, and Karrie Booth, owner of Holistic Health & Fitness, will present information for people with multiple sclerosis as part of a program scheduled for June 16.

Topics will be incorporating wellness into daily lifestyles through relaxation techniques, nutrition, stress management and fitness.

The presentation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association Craig office, 745 Russell St. Refreshments will be provided.

Humane Society sponsoring fundraiser

The Humane Society of Moffat County announced May 30 it is sponsoring the “Magic, Magic, Magic Show,” an event to raise money for special needs at the animal shelter, care for abused and abandoned animals and medical expenses such as vaccination and the spay/neuter program.

The show is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 20 at Moffat County High School. Ticket information will be released at a later date.

New book group to start in Craig

All readers are invited to attend a new reading group/book club, “Page Turners,” sponsored by Downtown Books. The group will read books across the genres — new and old fiction, science writing, creative non-fiction, mysteries and may even take a peek at poetry.

“Once Upon a Day” by Lisa Tucker is the first book. Tucker follows the exploits of a young woman, raised in isolation on a grand estate in New Mexico, searching for her runaway brother. In St. Louis she is introduced to outside world.

The first meeting of Page Turners is at 1 p.m. June 21 at Downtown Books, 543 Yampa Ave. Future meeting dates will be determined by the group. The second book in the series will by “Plenty” by Alisa Smith and J.B. Mackinnon.

First aid program to be held in Meeker

The Meeker Fire House hosts a first aid and CPR class from 5 to 10 p.m. June 17. Cost is $25 for first aid and CPR and $20 for CPR only.

50th class reunion coming in August

Classmates still are being sought for the 50th class reunion for the graduating class of 1958. The reunion date is Aug. 16 and 17 at the Holiday Inn in Craig.
