Conservation District sets meeting date

— The Colorado First Conservation District will host its annual meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Wyman Museum, 94350 E. U.S. Highway 40. All cooperators are welcome. RSVP to Dede Sorrentino at 824-5114.

Speaker to present India trip highlights

The Craig Rotary Club invites the public to its meeting at 7 a.m. June 10 at the Golden Cavvy Restaurant for a presentation by featured speaker Mike Guida, of Meeker.

Guida will give a presentation of his trip with a group of young business leaders from Arizona that went to Tamil Nadu, India. The group spent a month on a cultural exchange funded by the Rotary Foundation.

Daughters of the American Revolution

Anyone interested in becoming a member of a renewed chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution in the Craig area should call Shannan Koucherik at 824-9518. Free assistance is available to help women trace family lines to their revolutionary patriots.

The DAR is a national organization dedicated to patriotism and education.

Huck Finn Fun Day Saturday

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4265 and Ladies Auxiliary, in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Wildlife, will sponsor Huck Finn Fun Day beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Loudy-Simpson Park.

The event is a day of free fishing for everyone.

Children ages 1 to 15 can enter the Huck Finn/Becky Thatcher costume contest; prizes will be awarded for the most authentic costumes based on the two Mark twain characters, as well as for the best homemade fishing poles. Ages 15 and under can also participate in prize fishing.

Hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks will be provided. For more information, call event chairman Johnny Garcia at 620-4120.

Health officials: Check measles immunizations

Public health officials in Colorado and across the United States are warning travelers to check their measles immunization status before traveling internationally this summer.

Measles, a highly infectious disease long kept in check by robust immunization efforts, is making a comeback in the United States.

CNCC to host Relay for Life fundraisers

Colorado Northwestern Community College is scheduled to host a community barbeque and garage sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 20 at the college campus, 50 College Dr. Entry is free but donations will be accepted. All proceeds will benefit the Craig Relay for Life.

Garage sale donations may be delivered to the Bell Tower Building on June 19. For more information, call 824-1109.

First aid program in Meeker

The Meeker Fire House hosts a first aid and CPR class from 5 to 10 p.m. June 17. Cost is $25 for first aid and CPR and $20 for CPR only. To register for the course, contact Suzan at 878-5510 or e-mail director@meekerchamber.com. The deadline to register is 5 p.m. June 13.

Hoops contest in June for Relay for Life

The Craig Daily Press hosts a three-on-three basketball tournament as a fundraiser for Relay For Life from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 28.

The Daily Press is looking for team that would like to participate and have individual fundraisers at this event. Call Renee Campbell at 875-1781.
