Applying mission work in Mexico for 10th year

— Craig Assembly of God is traveling to Mexico for another mission trip, but this year is going to be different.

In the past, the church has focused mostly on evangelistic outreaches, but this year it has the opportunity to work in evangelism and construction with the Tarhumara Indians in Coreache, Mexico.

The team from Craig Assembly this year includes Pastor Dave Ross, Earlita Ross, Alex Ross, Dave Longwell, Jon Longwell, Rachel Longwell, Bethany Longwell, Angela Vesely, Tory Van Tassel, and Ryan Prentiss.

They will be working at an orphanage in Coreache, helping to dig a septic system, paint some of the buildings, run electrical wire and build dividing walls for the orphanage rooms.

According to Tom Schiefer of Cedar Edge, a friend of full-time missionaries Phil and Cheryl Neely, the Tarhumaras are one of the few unreached groups in the Americas.

But, the Assembly of God is working hard to change that. They have more churches than any other denomination and also have the two largest churches among the Tarhumara Indians.

"It is very exciting to team up with the Assembly of God church in Steamboat, also," Pastor Dave Ross said. "Last year, we teamed up with them on a trip to Israel and we are looking forward to working with them again."
