Barbara Boyer, executive director of the Colorado Chapter of the American Council of the Blind, will host a meeting at 2 p.m. today at the Independent Life Center, 483 Yampa Ave. The meeting is open to the public and anyone who would like to know more about issues confronting people with vision loss, according to a news release from the ILC.

Boyer will offer information about ACH-CO advocacy and education efforts to improve and enrich the lives of people with vision loss.

Refreshments will be served.

Farmers Market seeking vendors

The Downtown Business Association's Farmers Market is looking for vendors of locally grown produce and hand made items, including honey, eggs, soap, cut flowers, cards, jewelry and goat's milk.

The Farmers Market runs from 3 to 6 p.m., every Thursday, in Alice Pleasant Park until September 26. There is no fee for sellers for setting up. Nonprofit organizations, fundraisers and information booths also are encouraged to come.

Nonprofit organizations are invited to set up booths for informational and fundraising purposes. Also, the Farmers Market is scheduling musicians and information specialist.

Integrated Community looking for volunteers

Integrated Community/Comunidad Integrada is looking for volunteers to help teach new English as a Second Language classes. No experience is required, and no foreign language skills are needed. Classes will include instruction on reading, speaking and writing English. A volunteer teacher training is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon July 23 at Integrated Community's Craig office, 510 Breeze St. Snacks and beverages will be served.
