Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide coordinators aren’t picky about what items they will allow residents from Moffat and Routt counties to bring to an upcoming community garage sale.
“If they can transport it, they can sell it,” said Lisa Foley, REPS suicide prevention coordinator for Routt County. “It’s kind of whatever you can bring in your car and bring on by.”
The event is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Colorado Mountain College Steamboat Springs campus parking lot, 1330 Bob Adams Drive. Setup for the sale is slated to start at 7 a.m.
By participating in the sale, locals can make a profit from their unneeded goods and support suicide prevention measures in Moffat and Routt counties.
Individual parking lot spaces where sale participants can set up their sale are available for $20 each. Spaces containing two and three parking spaces cost $35 and $50, respectively.
Funds participants pay to reserve a space benefit REPS, which operates in Moffat and Routt counties.
Foley said she hopes the fundraiser collects about $1,200, adding that the funds will be used to purchase weekly suicide prevention advertisements.
Sale participants also stand a chance at profiting from the event.
“What people sell, they can keep,” Foley said, “or they can give a donation” to REPS.
Other REPS fundraisers are scheduled to take place later this summer.
The organization will man two exchanges at the Wild West Relay scheduled August 1 and 2 on Rabbit Ears Pass.
A comedy mystery dinner, entitled “A Night at the Oscars,” is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel and Conference Center. Tickets sell for $50 each and will include a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres.
“We are seeking auction item donations” for the event, Foley said.
