Flu shots available through VNA

Influenza season usually peaks in February, according to a Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association news release. The VNA will hold drop-in flu clinics for all ages on the following dates and times:

• 10 to 11:30 a.m. today

Adult flu shots are $22 and children's flu shots are $14 or less. Medicaid and Medicare are accepted - bring cards to the clinics. Children younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All clinics will be held at the VNA office, 745 Russell St. in Craig. For more information, call the VNA flu hotline at 871-7684.

'Craig Idol' contest at 7:30 p.m. Saturday

The Yampa Valley Chapter of Sweet Adelines International is planning its annual show for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Moffat County High School. The show title is "Craig Idol" and is a localized version of the TV show, "American Idol."

Auditions for show contestants took place earlier this year; anyone in the Craig area ages 16 and older was invited to participate. The five contestants selected by a panel from Yampa Valley Chorus are Monika Baron, Jacob Chason, Ashley Cordova, Irene Losolla and Tanya Rinehart. The performers will compete for the most votes from the audience.

Along with the contestants, special guest performers will be Girlsberry Jam, Hometown Harmony, Dejà Vu quartets and the Yampa Valley Chorus. Beth Gilchrist and Bill Ronis will host the show.

Tickets are $8 and $5 for seniors/students and can be purchased from any Sweet Adeline or at the door. Come and vote for your favorite Craig Idol.
