Craig Do you and your significant other want to help with the annual trip to Washington D.C. and the Williamsburg, Va., area for We See D.C. — an educational project that sends area youths the nation’s capital?
Spots are still available. Student cost is $1,735. Adult cost is $1,960 per person with no chaperone responsibilities.
“We know it’s expensive, but everything is paid,” a press release states. “All ground and air transportation, meals, hotels for five nights, admission costs, and a terrific driver and tour guide.”
Departure time is around 11 p.m. June 7, and participants will return sometime in the early hours of June 14.
There is an informational meeting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at Serendipity Coffee Shop. If you cannot make that meeting, contact Courtney Jenison at 970-620-0753.
Kick the habit
Tobacco-free quit kits for smokers and chewers are available at the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association offices in Steamboat Springs, 940 Central Park Dr., suite 101, and Craig, 745 Russell St.
The kits promote the Colorado QuitLine and free support from a trained coach, who guides and supports individuals through the quitting process. Research shows you are seven times more likely to end your tobacco habit with the QuitLine than if you’re trying to quit on your own.
Four weeks of free nicotine patches and nicotine gum are available. Call 1-800-QUIT-NOW, or 784-8669. For more information, call the VNA at 871-7664 for further assistance.
Diamond and Spurs tickets on sale
Tickets are on sale for the Craig Rotary Club’s annual Diamond and Spurs Dinner Dance, which takes place Saturday, Jan. 26.
Tickets are $60 each and available from any Rotary member or at the Elk Run Inn. Call Randy at 826-4444 for more information.
Bad to the Bone is providing the dinner, serving prime rib and Cajun salmon.
Hors d’oeuvres start at 6 p.m. with the dinner at 7 p.m. Dancing follows the dinner with Kip Stream providing the music.
There also is a raffle for a diamond necklace donated by Kester Jewelry and a signed copy of Rod Hanna’s book “Seasons of Light.”
Proceeds go to benefit the Rotary youth projects in Craig, including high school and nursing scholarships, the second-grade book buddy program, the third-grade dictionary program and Rotary youth leadership camps.
